Providing Safe Housing for Jajas
Jaja’s (single grandparents) are often the primary caregivers for multiple grandchildren.
Their only means of income is usually digging roots which leaves them impoverished and living in mud huts without water or sanitation.
Children often sleep on the floor.
The homes are leaky and wet during the rainy season, infested with bedbugs, jiggers, and rats, and prone to stealing as the doors and windowns don’t lock.
Since their grandmothers are working in the fields, the children are responsible for walking long miles to collect water.
They are unable to go to school.
The Nakalanda Project
provides new housing for needy Jajas that are dry, installed with gutters for water collection, have concrete floors to keep out critters, and barred windows and doors for safety. The family’s health and hygiene improves dramatically, they are safe, and the children are able to go to school.

Providing Homes for Orphans
When orphans age out of orphanages in Ukraine, they do so without work skills and with little chance for higher education. They often turn to crime, drugs, or suicide. At best, they are able to work low-wage jobs which often results in their own children ending up in an orphanage. Your home helps support the The William Christopher Fund which teaches orphans construction and hospitality skills that they can use to support themselves and their future families so the orphan cycle does not get repeated.

The Morningstar Fund helps out in many spheres including helping Ukrainian War Vets and Refugees find housing and providing much-needed groceries, clean water, and other necessities.
